The B-3 jacket was issued to all pilots and flight crews of bombers along with Sheepskin lined pants known as “Trousers, Flying, Winter, Type A-3”. These, along with Sheep lined mittens, leather helmets, and boots became the standard flight uniform throughout the remainder of the 1930’s and 1940’s until the end of World War II in 1945.. The A-2 was finally phased out in 1943, but the jacket worn by the Air Corps daredevils of World War II would become perhaps the best known of the ones on this list..
